BONNACH TÌ - NAN MEASAN TIORAM

TÀTHCHUIDEAN

  • 1 c / 240 ml tì dubh làidir
  • 1 c / 150 g measan tioram measgaichte 
  • 1/2 c / 100 g siùcar donn
  • 1 ugh
  • 2-3 tbsp / 30-45 ml ìm leaghte no ola
  • 1/2 tsp / 2–3 ml cainnel agus pinneag bheag cnò-mhùsg
  • 2 c / 250 g flùr-èirigh

CEUMANNAN

  • Bog na measan anns an tì theth – obraichidh beagan mhionaidean, tha uair no dhà nas fheàrr, agus ‘s thar na h-oidhche as fheàrr
  • Na dòirt air falbh an tì
  • Measgaich na tàthchuidean uile ach am flùr
  • Cuir ris am flùr agus measgaich gu socair
  • Fuine aig 325–350°F / 165–175°C airson 60-75 mionaidean

NOTA

  • Faodar treacle a chleachdadh airson blas nas traidiseanta
  • Ma tha thu a’ cleachdadh molasses Ameireaganach, cleachd molasses àbhaisteach - chan e “blackstrap” - agus measgaich e le siùcar, 1/4 c / 50 g gach fear
  • Airson inneach nas buige, faodar an ìm leaghte a mheudachadh no a dhùblachadh

TEA LOAF - WITH DRIED FRUIT

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 c / 240 ml strong black tea
  • 1 c / 150 g mixed dried fruit 
  • 1/2 c / 100 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2-3 tbsp/30-45 ml melted butter or oil
  • 1/2 tsp / 2–3 ml cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 c / 250g self-rising flour

METHOD

  • Soak fruit in hot tea – a few minutes works, 1–2 hours is better, overnight is best
  • Do not discard the tea
  • Mix all ingredients except the flour
  • Add flour and mix gently 
  • Bake at 325–350°F / 165–175°C for 60-75 minutes

NOTES

  • Treacle may be used for a more traditional flavour 
  • If using American molasses, use regular - not "blackstrap" - and mix with sugar, 1/4 c / 50 g each one
  • For a softer crumb, the butter may be increased or doubled
